 A Brief History

The Ross Carroll Bennett House was built in 1898 by Mary (Dwyer) Ross on land she inherited from her father, Thomas Dwyer, an Irish immigrant. Mary's daughter Matilda (Ross) Carroll inherited the house in 1941. It remained in the family until it was purchased by Mr. & Mrs. Howard Bennett in 1970.

The home is a Registered Texas Historical Landmark and part of the Brenham Downtown Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places. It contains some of the original furniture and decor including hardwoods floors, jigsawn friezes, plaster crown molding, pocket doors, and doorway transoms.

The home has been rehabilitated and is now a full-service bed & breakfast with a champagne breakfast and happy hour with hors d'oeuvres served daily for guests.
